Measuring approximately 21 ¾" tall and 11" in diameter at its widest, this hanging show globe features a gold bracket that holds the beautiful dot etched glass vessel.

Show globes, also known as carboys, were traditionally clear glass containers filled with colored liquid and displayed in apothecaries' windows. According to myth, the liquid's color served as a signal to travelers-red indicating a plague or quarantine and green signaling safety. As you can see from the photos we added some colored water to this jar.

This remarkable piece would make a fantastic decorative addition to your home or office. While the glass jar and gold frame work shows some minor imperfections and stains from previous use, it remains in amazing condition overall. The top of the jar is missing the neck that would hold the stopper. There is also some minor paint spots as shown in the photos.
