As shown in the photos the cover shows wear and marks from time and handling. Some of the spine is missing. The pages do have some light foxing and you may find some handwriting from the original owner. Volume 1 and 2 complied from family papers and other sources by his daughter Mrs Gordon.
John Wilson was a Scottish writer who most often wrote under the pseudonym Christopher North. Wilson was a professor of Moral Philosophy at Edinburgh University from 1820-1852, he was also an influential literary figure along with being a literary critic and author. These 2 volumes begin with his boyhood in Paisely and continue until his death in 1854
