This vintage Ozark roadside tourist pottery planter features a bold blue drip glaze over a rounded, hand-thrown clay form.
Measures approximately 7" in diameter and 4 1/2" high.
The glaze flows organically over the exterior, creating layered waves of cobalt blue, white, and exposed earthenware that are unique to this piece. The interior is unglazed and shows age-appropriate wear consistent with use and firing methods typical of mid-century folk and tourist pottery.
Three hanging holes are present near the rim, indicating it was designed to be suspended with cord or wire, commonly used as a hanging planter or wall-mounted decorative vessel. The form is slightly irregular, reflecting its handmade construction. Surface imperfections, glaze pooling, kiln marks, and firing variations are present and should be considered part of the character and authenticity of the piece.
This planter is a strong example of regional American folk pottery, often associated with Ozark and Horrine-style tourist wares produced for roadside markets. It functions well as a hanging planter or as a sculptural decorative object in rustic, boho, or Americana interiors.
