Vintage Skookum-style dolls.

Skookum-style dolls were popular collectibles and souvenirs that represented various Native American tribes and their customs. These dolls were known for their distinctive characteristics and were often made with a combination of materials like wood, fabric, and sometimes plastic for the faces. They were created to resemble traditional Native American clothing and accessories.

In this collection, you will find 7 different pieces.

The tall male doll is 16” top to bottom, 4 ¾” side to side. He looks to be filled with straw. Be careful handling him as his legs will come right out. His legs, feet, and head are made of wood. He is missing his hair.

The two sitting dolls measure approximately 5 ½” tall.  The squaw with the papoose is 4 ¼” side to side. She does have some wear and holes in her material. Both sitting dolls have plastic faces. 

The two other standing dolls measure 7 ½” tall and are 3” wide. They both have plastic faces. 

You will also notice there are two canoes. The larger one measures 8” side to side and 3” top to bottom. It has the Niagara Falls embroidery on one side. The other canoe measures 4 ¼” side to side and 1 ¾” tall. They both show signs of age. 

It's important to note that Skookum dolls were designed without arms, and the appearance of folded arms was created through the use of Indian-style folded blankets. These items provide a glimpse into the cultural representation and artistic styles of the time they were created.

These dolls could make a valuable addition to a Native American collection.
